I thought it appropriate to call this post Who’s Zooming Who? ( remember that Aretha Franklin 80’s song) ‘With a new season just ahead, denim brands start to unveil their collections and in this case the muse they are closely working with. Keep reading and you’ll see two very different young women with similar ideals and fashion style. Move over Mossy!
Current/Elliott teams up with Charlotte Gainsbourg FW14
Current/Elliott are known for their collaborations with fashion designers within the last years. Diane von Fürstenberg and Mary Katrantzou spring to mind but now French actress and singer Charlotte Gainsbourg (daughter of English actress Jane Birkin and French singer and songwriter Serge Gainsbourg) has designed a capsule collection for the premium denim label. The cooperation was signed for the next four seasons. Gainsbourg is the ideal denim ambassador, as Current/Elliott CEO Serge Azria states: “With her petite and androgynous look, also with her creativity and personality, Charlotte Gainsbourg could create a debut collection which reflects herself.”
The collection includes sleek jackets, menswear-inspired cuts and slim pants. Raw denim, leather and cord as well as heavy knitwear and silk create contrasting materials. The color range shows muted colors like deep red and diverse blue tones. The collection will be available in the stores from August 2014.
Alexa Chung teams up with AG Jeans SS15
The Californian premium denim label AG collaborates with Alexa Chung for spring/summer 2015. The fashion conscious TV presenter from the UK has designed 20 styles in cooperation with AG, which will be available in selected stores from spring 2015.
The Alexa Chung for AG collection includes, among others overalls, t-shirts, high waisted jeans and denim dresses with a modern and at the same time vintage inspired look.
“As I visited the AG headquarter in LA, I was very surprised that the production takes place locally. I like that AG is a family business and they are denim-experts. I finally could create pieces, which I always have been searching for on shopping trips, mainly inspired by a late 60ies and early 70ies aesthetic”, explains Alexa Chung.
AG Creative Director Sam Ku about the project: “We were searching for a collaboration partner with a unique sense for fashion and an own head, to bring fresh ideas to the denim world. As fashion icon, Alexa is a muse for a range of extraordinary designers, at the same time she is authentic and a fashion role model for women worldwide.”
Hmm I’m interested to see this one, shame we have to wait till next summer!
