Apparently this is the season where anything and everything goes, no holding back, mix and match to your hearts content. It’s all about spotting trends and this season denim is hotter than ever. So with this in mind we created a section of the blog I lovingly call “Shop The Trend” this is where you can browse and buy the hottest denim trends for this Spring Summer.
I hope you enjoy them x
Welcome To Shop The Trend.
Keep coming back as the pages are updated with all the newest must-have trends.
The boyfriend jean continues to be a must-have style for all body shapes. Born from women wearing their boyfriends jeans on the weekend for an off duty look. The comfy slouchy style and rolled up hem (as the legs were too long) soon took off and Katie Holmes was the first celebrity spotted in a pair in 2008. 6 years later and the boyfriend jean is now as popular as the skinny! This is the “whatever goes” easy style jean, available in an array of distresses, washes, prints, paint splatters and prices.
Distressed denim is hotter than ever right now. Street style pics of NYFW15 are full of rips, shredded denim and love-worn details. Teamed with smart jackets and heels is the fashion packs latest uniform. Distressed denim is one of those trends you can dip your toe into with a slight rip at the knee or go all out and show off your pins with shredding down the legs! We’ve been distressing our jeans since the early 80′s and is definitely one of those Marmite trends you either love or hate.
Patchwork is one of my favourite denim trends this season as it comes in a multitude of different styles. Patchwork denim took on a 40′s style at the Alexander McQueen SS14 show, patchworked together from 11 different washes. Be it a subtle detail on the leg or all over work there’s something in this trend for everyone’s taste and budget! Be part of the patchwork revolution this Spring Summer.
DUNGAREES, OVERALLS & PINAFORES
Dungarees, pinafores and overalls are so de rigueur this summer. Work that utility laid-back look in the lightest denim to the darkest indigo. It’s up to you how much you wish to bare as there’s lots of different options to choose. DKNY teamed the lightest slouchy dungaree shorts with a crisp white shirt buttoned to the neck, a navy blazer draped over the shoulders and a baseball cap on head for the SS14 catwalk show.
THE GIRLFRIEND JEAN
Enter the girlfriend jean, a sleeker more feminine cut from the boyfriend. Perfect for petite and apple body shapes that find the boyfriend a bit too bulky. The streamlined girlfriend comes in different washes, distresses and clean denim in a new shape for Spring/ Summer 14.
Denim takes a tomboyish twist with an industrial feel. Heavier denim used in men’s jeans comes in a tougher work-wear style. Rag & Bone lead the way this season with hardcore denim.
Looking for effortless sophistication then smart denim is your trend. The denim shirt dress come into it’s own as a VIP (Very Important Piece). Versace and Balmain worked their magic with plaited denim and western styling, making denim hot property for SS14! From clean lines of the darkest denim, pleats to spirals of chambray, frayed collars and cuffs. Spring Summer 14 has it all going on.
SUPER SIZE TURN -UPS
Super size turn-ups maybe a micro Marmite trend, (love it or hate it) but did you know it could make you look slimmer? Turn-ups were seen strutting down the runway at the Top Shop Unique show. It’s already filtered down to the High St and can be found at the Gap.
White always looks chic and I love mixing different shade of white together. Let the Dulux colour chart be your inspiration and mix a pearly white with a minty white. Too much white, then use it as an accessory with black or a print. Invest in a perfect fitting pair of white jeans this season, such as the MiH Marrakesh Jean. I guarantee you’ll love wearing them!
