You’ll be pleased to hear that Tried & Tested, ilovejeans.com unbiased denim review is back! Today I’m reviewing New Looks blue ripped boyfriend jeans in a 30″ leg length ( as I’m 5’2″) at the fab price £26.99!
The boyfriend jean is a hot trend at the moment so I wanted to check out a pair under £30 to see what you get for your cash.
The Fit: This boyfriend jean is a relaxed slouchy style and this style comes with a tan belt and a choice of leg lengths 30″ and 32″, sizes uk 8 to 18. With moderate distressing on both legs and rips at the knee area.
Sam’s wearing a Missoni wrap cardigan, silk embellished blouse and metallic Jessica Simpson sandals.
The Rise: This style has an 8 inch rise which is comfortable for most body shapes .
The Behind: The boyfriend jean is really an anti- fit jean so if your looking for a style to show off your pert bottom this style isn’t for you! The behind tends to just hang like a mans jean and as I’m an apple body shape with a flat bottom this jean just isn’t giving my derrière the attention it deserves!
Leg Opening: The leg opening is 6 inches.
Leg Length: This style is sold as a 30 inch leg length but with the hem un-rolled measures 29 inches. With the hem rolled up sitting just above the ankle it measures 26 inches.
The Fabric: Made from 100% cotton.
Function: The boyfriend jean is an easy going relaxed slouchy style to hang out in. The distressed detail gives it a current look and feel. My legs were showing through the rips when walking. I’d wear this jean on a Sunday as an off duty look.
Which Body Shape: This style would be good for an hourglass, pear and fuller figure as it is cut wider on the hips although it does have a label stating it’s a slim boyfriend but I beg to differ!
The Round Up: For a jean that’s £26.99 it’s not bad. I would of preferred it to have a lining at the back of the rips so my legs weren’t on view in place of the tan belt it came with. For an apple shape I found the rise too baggy which exaggerated my tummy area ( not a winning look). I would of liked the leg too be slimmer to show off my shape which seemed to be drowning in denim. On the plus side there’s a pretty embroidered detail on the waistband and the button has a nice vintage detail. Oh and you get a free belt!
Tried & Tested Score: 6/10
