Welcome to Tried & Tested where you will get an unbiased review of the latest denim of the season. Today I’m reviewing the J Brand Mid Rise Photo Ready Skinny Jeans – Impression £230, available at The Dressing Room.

The Fit: These jeans are J Brands skinny 811 style, fitted from the hip to the ankle. Fits like second skin! The size of the jean reviewed was a 25 which is approx a 7,  Available in sizes 24 to 32.

Tried&Tested, Bodys shapes, jeans stylesSam wears silk orange tee by Mercy Delta, Necklace by Chlobo £180 and Ash Thelma Wedge Buckle Trainers – Black £149.00all available at The Dressing Room.

The Rise: 8.5 inches which is a true mid-rise.

The Behind: The pockets are kept to a minimum detail and are placed higher up to give the bottom a lift. The curved waistband sits higher at the back giving more comfort.

The Leg Opening: 10 inches.

Leg Length:  29 inches

The Fabric: This is J Brands new coveted fabric called Photo Ready Denim with slimming stretch technology that lifts and contours the body.  92.5% Cotton, 5% Polyester, 2.5% Elastane, 11.75-Ounce Super Soft Stretch Denim.

Which Body Shape: Because of the Photo Ready Denim and the hold it gives to your body, most body shapes would benefit from this style. Apple, Long & leggy, Petite and some Hourglass/ Pear shapes unless you need a higher rise! Measure your unique rise to find out now!

The Round Up: Hands up, I’ve been waiting a while to try the Photo Ready Denim and let me tell you it doesn’t disappoint! As they slide on you can feel this is a different class of jean, it holds in all the important places. My flat apple bottom has never looked so pert ( see for yourself above).

You’ll be pleased to know this fabric is available in other J Brand styles such as the Maria which is a great style for curvacious figures as it has a higher rise! The price is at a premium level of £230 however I do think that the fit does justify the price tag,  try them for yourself and see!

  1. Does the photo ready denim stretch in all directions, like a yoga legging? Do you feel confined or less agile in them? Can you comfortably sit on the floor, etc? How have the jeans been holding up to wear?

Have you tried the new hi-def fabric from JBrand? Which fabric is more flattering?

    • Hi Gaia, J Brand update their fabric often so the customer gets the best fit.
The Photo Ready has been around for a few years now and still going strong. Always best to look at the fabric content which is 11.75-Ounce weight on the Photo Ready,94% Cotton, 4% Polyester, 2% Lycra Spandex. Where as the HI Def is 11.35-Ounce weight, Stretch
90% Cotton, 7% Polyester, 3% Elastane. So there’s a bit more stretch in the Hi Def, hence the 4 way stretch! Maybe best to try them both on and see how you like the feel on your body. The Hi Def is definitely more like a second skin legging. Let me know what you decide. Sam x
