DENIM COLLABORATION #2:

Remember the saying “Too many cooks spoil the broth” well when it comes to creating a capsule denim collection, maximum input is key. It’s a win, win situation for all when the retailer works closely with the brand, to ensure the collection is customer friendly.

Denim boutique Donna Ida & cult Australian denim label Nobody have
joined forces to offer UK customers an exclusive capsule collection for
Spring Summer 2011.
The ‘Nobody Loves Donna Ida’ collection features seven styles which have
been handpicked by Australian born owner Donna Ida Thornton to retail
online and in Donna Ida boutiques from late April.
Donna, who opened her first boutique in 2006, travelled to Melbourne to
finalise the details of the capsule collection.

“Nobody represents the kind of offbeat cool I love, which translates directly from their core
company values. The boys don’t believe in chasing celebrity, they make
jeans for ‘Nobody’, which is everybody. I love that. The end result is
jeans that are cool and stylish with perfect fits and washes. That’s
all anyone wants in their jeans. Working with the boys in their laundry
and design room brought me so close to the process and I am so excited
to be working with them on this collection.”

Nobody started in 1999 born in the back laneways of Melbourne’s
independent artistic hub of Fitzroy. This independent and defiant
attitude informs their creative aesthetic and point of view and remains
the location of Nobody HQ and where all nobody jeans are hand produced
and customised. All of the nobody tools are self designed, skills are
self taught and they pride themselves on their unique vision. Nobody has
grown to be featured in the world most influential magazines, and
coveted by denim lovers and style leaders globally.
Wesley Hartwell, Creative Director at Nobody: “We are so excited to be
working with Donna Ida to bring UK customers this exclusive selection.
We have worked closely on this Collection in our laundry in Melbourne,
with Donna being very hands on in the design and customisation process.
Our shared vision is one of high quality, comfort, luxury denims, and
having flexible fits that flatter a wide range of figures, while
embodying a confident attitude and sleek sharp silhouette.”

‘NOBODY LOVES DONNA IDA IDA’ CAPSULE COLLECTION

THE CULT SKINNY:

The Cult Skinny sucks you in like no
other – its new secret high stretch denim
holds its shape and yours, with a high
waist and ultra comfortable soft fabric.
The Junk Junkie ie (£175 near right) is a true
vintage blue jean that is the utmost for
flattering shape and comfort. It has to
be worn to be believed!
Navy (£150 middle) is such a cool alternative to black jeans. Navy is an
extremely flexible wardrobe staple as this can be worn in a nautical,
military, arty, sophisticated, rock ‘n’ roll, boho, or indieasymmetrical
style. The Jungle (£150 far right) colour is a green-grey,
perfect for that inner city urban jungle feeling. The silhouette is
sleek, definite and confident. Team with blacks and greys for arty-edgycool
attitude, with luxe fabrics for sophisticated-chic-cocktails, with
navys, greens and browns to sharpen your military influence, or with
looser deconstructed naturals for a weekend-cool aesthetic.

CULT STRAIGHT:

Cult Straight in Scandal (£150) has a red cast blue in a nontraditional
denim for a high fashion boutique feel. Nobody hand
customise the jean to give a red-purple colouration and created
this jean so it can really dress up a casual outfit, or it can
be the perfect choice for a night out. This is a very POLISHED
and SHARP jean.

THE MOD SKINNY:

Super soft and comfortable with the perfect mid
rise. The Mod Skinny in Camel (£150 middle) is
designed to be the most flexible of all our colours,
brilliant as a contrast to black and all shades of
blues. But also in a tonal ensemble, with a myriad
of greens, browns, and creams.
The Mod Skinny is good girl gone bad, with a hand distressed wash in
Sacred (£180 far right). This is the perfect jean for your everyday, but
with that nobody edge to push the boundaries and add attitude to a
feminine shape. Sacreligious, no! Sacred, yes!

BOY FIT SHORT:

Nobody denim shorts in Anvil (£110) all have the quality,
attention to detail and amazing fit you expect from a Nobody
jean, which means these transcend seasonality and trend to be an
obvious staple of your wardrobe all year round. This cute & sexy
cut off has a masculine feel denim cloth in a traditional blue,
giving it a cheeky attitude. Complete with hand-customised with
distressing and holes, to give it an authentically worn in look.
The ‘Nobody Loves Donna Ida’ Collection is available now at Donna Ida
