I was truly flattered when Top Shop got in touch and asked if I would like to feature the new season’s denim on ilovejeans.com. After trying them all on myself I realised I needed a variety of body shapes to do these jeans justice, so I called in my nieces who are always happy to pose for a photograph or two.
For SS14 Topshop are focusing on jeans and their signature styles. From trend driven high-risers to old school classics, Topshop will champion the jeans of your dreams. So here are 5 new season styles and what we thought of them.
MOM:
Mom – is an authentic rigid high waisted jean with a tapered leg, as worn below by Feigi 20, MOTO White Ripped Mom Jeans £40.00.
Feigi had actually already bought the Mom Jean in a blue wash and loves how the high-rise makes her bottom look. Great for pear and hourglass body shapes looking for an 11 inch high rise. Model wears size 26, 30 inch leg as this style come in 3 leg lengths. There’s a really good selection of Mom Jeans with washes and details to choose from.
JAIME:
Jaime is a super stretch high waisted skinny ankle grazer, worn by Channi, 17, below, MOTO Light Grey Jamie Jean £40.00
Jaime was Channi’s favourite style as she loves just how skinny they are and how long her legs looked in the pictures thanks to the high waist. The light grey wash is perfect to mix with this season’s pastels. Model wears size 26, 30 inch leg as this style comes in 3 leg lengths, this jean has a 3% stretch so very comfortable with a 10 inch high rise. The Jaime is a good style for all body shapes looking for a higher rise. So if you love a skinny jean with a high rise the Jaime could be for you!
JONI:
Joni is a super high waisted spray on skinny. As worn by Feigi, MOTO Pansy Blue Joni Jeans £36.00 (top left bottom right), this jean reminds me of something out of the movie Grease, 50’s style pant, high waisted and worn like a 2nd skin.
The Joni has a rise that measures 10 inches and has a 4% stretch to give the wearer maxim comfort with a clean skinny style. Model wears size 26, 30 inch leg as this style comes in 3 leg lengths. This jean is definitely not for the fainthearted as it takes confidence and a great bottom to carry it off!
LEIGH:
Leigh – Super soft skinny, Mid-rise ankle grazer. Worn by Channi ( top right & left) MOTO Bleach Leigh Jeans £38.00. This style is one of my personal favorites as the 8.5 inch mid-rise is perfect for my apple body shape. I also really like this bleach blue wash that’s bang on trend for this Summer. Channi loves the silky feel of these jeans and how they flatter the leg by sitting on the ankle. Apparently the Leigh is Top Shop’s staple style that goes with everything, with such a wide selection of different washes I’m sure they do. Model wears size 26, 30 inch leg as this style comes in 3 leg lengths and has 1% stretch.
NEW BAXTER:
New Baxter – authentic slim leg jean, mid-rise, relaxed fit, comfort stretch. Worn by Rachel 22, MOTO New Dark Vintage Baxter Jeans £40.00
I agree with Rachel that this style is a great everyday jean, I love the vintage wash and the 8.5 inch mid-rise again is good for both my apple shape and Rachel’s curves. It’s a relaxed skinny jean with a crop leg. Model wears size 26, 30 inch leg as this style comes in 3 leg lengths.
