Thank heaven for Vogue Runway, giving us the good, bad and the ugly collections from each city. It’s exciting to be able to scroll through thousands of creations picking out the denim pieces that will inspire other designers, stylist and end up on the high street in stores as well as on the pavement. Emerging denim trends and pinpointing where it all began is like playing fashionista snap.
So lets just get stuck in and spot the latest denim trends.
Carolina Herrera Spring 2017
Beautiful elegant shapes re worked in denim. Denim that had both structure and fluidity at the same time. Ties, ruching and corsetry.
Mother-of-Pearl Spring 2017
This was the first time designer Amy Powney used denim in her collection. I love the pearl detail against the raw edge denim.
See by Chloé Spring 2017
A really wearable collection, having said that it’s nothing we haven’t seen before. Lattice detail, peplum tunic, embroidery, maxi dresses. Cropped boot cut.
CUT MAKE & TRIM
Natasha Zinko Spring 2017
Oversized, re-worked and an ode to Vetements’. A bit like Marmite!
SIMPLE SHAPES & DETAILS
Sea- Spring 2017
Simple denim shapes with little details, pie crust sleeves, lattice work, removed pockets, washed denim 70’s style.
Versus Versace Spring 2017
Even Donatella came out wearing a pair of distressed jeans at the end of the show. Distressing seems to continue with raw, frayed hems. Bleached light denim hues. Shorts over jeans? Or could this be an emerging trend?
Alexander Wang Spring 2017
Raw hem denim duster coat. Distressed crop boot cuts, longline over sized denim jacket. All in a soft washed light blue denim.
Part Two coming soon…….
