Last week I popped into The Dressing Room, my visit was all about the denim as The Dressing Room stocks 6 denim brands including my favorites J Brand, Paige, Current/Elliott, Hudson and 7 For All Mankind. It was lovely to meet Amy & Jaime (The Dressing Room’s denim stylist and PR) who both share the same love for denim as yours truly!

Amy explained that The Dressing Room stylists (that’s what they’re called) are given specific denim training when new stock/ brands arrive so they can pass on the interesting details about each style to the customer. So when I asked ” Which styles work best for each body shape?” Amy was happy to pull out the following jeans and talk me through the styles……

PETITE:

THE DRESSING ROOM, PETITE, PAIGE, J BRAND

#1: Hudson Jeans, Nico Super Skinny Jean – Siouxsie £199.00 are a good style for the petite lady as they are a mid-rise and come in a 30″ inseam so if a customer needs to still have the leg altered your not loosing any of the shape. Amy suggest you go down a size in a Hudson jean as they do tend to stretch.

#2: PAIGE DENIM Kylie Crop Skinny Jeans – Harper £210.00. Amy tells me this is the perfect crop for summer and with an inseam of 26″ it works for all heights.

HOURGLASS & PEAR:

THE DRESSING ROOM, HOURGLASS, PEAR , J BRAND, PAIGE, HUDSON

#3: Hudson Jeans Beth Baby Bootcut Jean – Siouxsie £205.00. Amy tells me that this is the go-to boot cut for Hudson as it’s wider that a straight leg but slimmer than a full boot. The wide waistband and double button feature hugs the curves giving the illusion of a slimmer middle. Amy gives me a another tip, “Did you know the signature button pocket on this style is called the Wonder bra for the bottom as it gives a noticeable lift! We all need some of that…

#4: J Brand 23110 High Rise Maria Skinny Jean – Starless £215.00. Amy tells me that the J Brand Maria style is a winner when it comes to fit as the high-rise sucks in the tummy as if you’re wearing Spanx. She also points out there isn’t a visible seam on the outside of the jean which elongates the leg and the pockets on the bum are set higher to give the bottom a lift! This style’s also available in Lapiz, Impression, Black Quartz,  Black, Veruca, White, Hewson.  The Maria has a  9.5″ rise and 30″ inseam.

LONG & LEGGY:

THE DRESSING ROOM, LONG & LEGGY, TALL, 2ND DAY, J BRAND, PAIGE

#5: J Brand 8112 Mid Rise Rail Jeans – Dark Vintage £225.00, these skinny leg jeans seem to go on forever and Amy tells me is a favorite of her taller customers, Inseam 32″.

#6: 2nd Day Jolie Indigo Jeggings – Rinse £90.00. Although not premium denim this 2nd Day style sits well among the rest of the denim.  Amy tells me, “it’s great to have a jean with a lower price point with an inseam of 33 which fits so well”

APPLE:

THE DRESSING ROOM, APPLE BODY SHAPE, PAIGE, J BRAND, SKINNY

#7: J Brand Mid Rise Photo Ready Skinny Jeans – Impression £230.00. Designed in J Brands revolutionary Photo Ready Denim a fabric with brand new stretch technology. These jeans will lift and contour your body smoothly with an ultra slimming effect, making you look and feel a dress size smaller. You’ll have to wait to read my review as this style is one of my Tried & Tested!

#8: PAIGE DENIM Indio Rose Gold Zip Skinny Jeans – Steel Grey £255.00. A mid-rise skinny with gold single zip detail. Amy’s quick to tell me that the zips are strategically placed to give the illusion of smaller tummy area. Then she tells me something I didn’t know about Paige, “Each size of a Paige jean has a specific sized pocket which means your bottom will always look in proportion to your size when wearing a pair of Paige jeans”.  Well if I wasn’t already a Paige fan, with all this inside information I would be now!
