LIME -TWIST THE COLOUR OF 2011
H1.18.84. 89YY 78/269. Recently named the colour for 2011 by the AkzoNobel Colour Aesthetic Centre, here’s a look at this cheery little splash of vibrance. A light, airy, citrus yellow that symbolises a freer spirit, sense of fun and positive energy. The clear, translucent yellow tone encapsulates a mood of hope and optimism – a carefree vitamin packed shot of purity and freedom. It conveys a feeling of fizzy sherbert (yum), new growth (nice), relaxed fun (ahhh) and vitality of sunshine (yes please).
Light and airy shades of yellow are pretty much universally thought of as being refreshing and uplifting. Splashes of yellow are known to enhance communication, improve learning, combat fatigue and depression, promote relaxation, increase positivity and improve general wellbeing. Phew. That’s a pretty hardworking colour.
A daily dose of juicy yellow feeds and nourishes the body as well as lifting and energising the mind. The slight green tone makes it fresher than more yolky tones and hints at an appreciation of nature while still being modern and confident. Super flexible, this baby works with a huge array of similar and contrasting shades to create colour schemes that are soothing, sparkling or challenging, depending on how the tones are coordinated. The best combos are true neutrals, deep berry violets, crisp blues or airy sorbet pastels. So, no matter what your new years resolution, it seems that this colour will help you be on your way to making it a reality.
