Welcome to a brave new world in denim technology! Here’s 10 premium denim brands all offering you the best fit you’ve ever had (so far). Fit is numero uno when shopping for jeans and these are the top of their game when it comes to comfort, stretch and flattering denim. Now all this technology does come at a premium denim price starting around £100/$169 going upwards. Remember you’re paying for a better quality denim with a mixture of ingredients such as polyester, Lycra, Spandex, Tencel, Rayon all mixed with cotton, to give this luxurious soft feel denim that works as a second skin. I’ve listed the fabric content which will give you an idea of how stretchy your chosen jean is, starting at 2% to 4% ( Lycra & Spandex is the stretch factor in the jean).
I’m really thrilled to be getting more American visitors to Ilovejeans so I’m trying to keep every one involved with the jeans I suggest. The jeans below are direct from the denim brands websites based in the US and most of them apart from Hudson & DL1961 ship to UK / Europe. You will be asked where your shopping from when you enter the site, all prices will be in your currency and landed taxes/ shipping will be added to the price at checkout. If you need any help in finding these styles, feel free to ask me a question in the contact box at the bottom of this post and I’ll check it out for you!

I need help, I’ve purchased a Miss Me brand comprised of 55% Modal, 43% Polyester, 2% Elastane. Do these stretch with wear as the day progresses and do they shrink? I bought a size down and my regular size but my regular size feels a bit more loose especially in the crotch area. The size down is tight but I’m worried that my regular size will stretch out and I’ll be stuck with baggy jeans. I’m wearing the size smaller today (with the tag still on) I know that’s terrible but I they were expensive so I want to be able to return them if they have no stretch. Can you give me any information on the fabric blend above. THANKS!!
Hi Star, thanks for the comment. You were right to go down a size as all jeans do stretch. In my experience when there is a mix of Polyester the jean holds it’s shape. Now Modal is a man-made fabric made from beech trees, which gives a silky feel and breathable qualities. The Elastane gives the comfort of stretch. So it seems your jeans will hold their shape. However it’s always good to ask the sales person what you can expect when they are washed. Hopefully you can take the tags of now.

Sorry, but I actually don’t like the new technology of denim. I’m going through several pairs of black jeans to get the best comforting fit bu and I’m not having much luck. What I’ve realised is it’s the stretch feel I don’t like not the style or brand. Bring back the old school jeans. Again sorry for the negative spin but I love wearing jeans.
Hi Frida,Thanks for commenting. There’s a jean out there for everyone, so don’t give up! Have you looked at Nudie Jeans, they are unisex but there are a few styles that are good for women. Such as Skinny Lin Long John Pipe Lead
Also APC stock lots of dry denim, old school stuff you need to break in.
Also check a previous blog post on how the trend now is for old school denim, exactly what you are feeling!
Thanks
