TRIED & TESTED: J BRAND 620 POWER STRETCH SKINNY IN ELECTRIC BLUE

Welcome back to Tried & Tested, today we are reviewing the J Brand 620 Skinny in Electric Blue at Trilogy.

Modeled by the lovely Jade a petite body shape, size 25 /UK8. Jade is the PR Manger for Trilogy Stores and fellow denim lover. Jade’s unique rise measurement is 11.5 inches, her preferred rise measurement is 8 to 9 inches.

The Fit: A classic mid rise skinny, 620 now comes in this seasons must-have colour of Electric Blue to add a little vibrancy to your wardrobe. The skinny leg hits just at the ankle and combined with the comfort and flattery of the mid rise creates a beautiful and sophisticated silhouette. Sizes 24 -29 are available at Trilogy.

Trilogy Say’s: In super bright blue, keep styling simple with a grey or beige cashmere knit or a simple white jersey tee and leather jacket.

The Behind: A nice simple back pocket, placed in the middle of the bottom area. You can see form the image above Jade has a petite pert bottom which looks fab in these skinny’s.

It’s funny how certain colours influence your way of thinking, as electric blue reminds me of the my school uniform in the 80′s. So not a colour I would opt for when purchasing clothing. However having said that BLUE is a big trend this season, so don’t let my high school angst get in your way of denim enjoyment. The style and fit of the 620 is spot on as one would expect for a J Brand skinny. ( I will be looking out for other colours). The price is a cool blue £215, which I do think is quite expensive by your paying for the powerstretch fabric.

Welcome back to Tried & Tested! This week we are reviewing J Brand’s Minx with Leather Skinny at Trilogy.

With the edge of leather and the ease of a jean, the mid-rise pieced zip Minx gives way to downtown denim style.

The Fit: Minx is the super cool leather and denim panelled jean from J brand. The skinny jean is made from super soft denim with a subtle stretch and leather thigh high panels. The leather is super soft and of the finest quality with zips up the back to the knee. The over all look of these jeans is super cool and the fit and shape are amazingly flattering as well as sexy. Trilogy Say’s Team with some over-sized, simple knitwear or jersey tee. Available in sizes 23 to 32.

Jade is wearing a size 25 in this style.

The Rise: The front rise measures 8 inches and the back rise 13 inches

The Behind: The pockets are kept simple and central in where they are placed. Jade has a petite pert bottom which looks fab in these skinny’s.The leather starts just below the thigh area and continues down to the hem. The focus is on just below the back of the knee where a zip sexily goes down the back of the calf to the ankle.

The Leg Opening: The leg opening is 9.5 inches, with the zip fastened.

Leg Length: The inseam is 28 inches, which is a good length for all heights, especially the petite lady.

The Fabric: 10-Ounce Lightweight Stretch Denim, 92% Cotton, 7% Polyester, 1% Spandex, Contrast Fabric: 100% Lambskin Leather. Dry Clean Only!

Function: Definitely a statement jean that can be worn anytime. The Minx combines the luxury of wearing leather and the easiness of wearing jeans. Fitting perfectly in this season’s leather trend. It’s a sexy jean that elongates the leg with the leather detail (similar to chap’s) and zips continuing down the back of the leg.

Since visiting Trilogy and taking pictures of Jade in the Minx in the Klash (indigo), the colour now available on pre-order at Trilogy isVicious (black). So now you know the Minx comes in three colours klash, vicious & pistol. Time to show my cards, throwing my hands up in the air and confessing…. I love it!! I fell in love with the Minx as soon as I saw it on Jade. It’s a refreshing new style with that J Brand magic of giving your legs the illusion they go on forever, mixed with sexy zips & leather. But wait… we can’t ignore the small fact of the price at £560.00. It’s a steep price so let me remind you, the legs from the thigh down are made from the softest lambskin leather. A pair of J Brand 801 in real leather will set you back £875 – easier to swallow now?

I’m reserving the extra point until I’m able to try the Minx on myself as an incentive to loose my baby weight and buy a pair ( haven’t had the baby yet).

TRIED & TESTED: NEW LOOK TEAL SKINNY JEANS

This week on Tried & Tested Sara O’Regan bra expert & founder of Bra Sense reviews the Teal Skinny Jean at New Look.

Sara is a classic hourglass size UK 8/10. Her waist is 24 inches and hips 38 inches so you can see the problem she always has when searching for jeans. Sara’s unique rise measurement is 13 inches from crotch to belly button.

Sara’s Denim Story:

Where most people struggle with bras and swimwear, I struggle with jeans! So, turning 37 last week, I went on a mission with my sister to find a pair of jeans! We literally scoured the Highcross Centre in Leicester and left with nothing! It was the same old story – what fitted around the hips and in the rise was far too big on the waist. My waist is 24 inches, my hips are 38. Finding jeans which fit both is nigh on impossible. So I was amazed to find the perfect fit in New Look. If the jeans had been made for me, I’d have been unable to get a better fit. What is even more amazing is that they are only £16.99!

Leg Length: The inseam is 30 inches but available in longer.

They fit into the small of the back, yet sit slightly lower at the front. The waist band mirrors the body contours perfectly, giving a low ‘high waisted’ finish. No muffin tops, no rolls, no pulling up, no gapes just a perfect fit. As I’m only 5’4 with a ‘shapely’ calf, jeans can also be too tight in the leg. Again, these fitted perfectly. I was so impressed that I’m heading back to buy 2 more pairs. Perfect for any shape due to the stretch and softer finish. Absolute must try for an hourglass.

TRIED & TESTED: TEXTILE BY ELIZABETH AND JAMES – The Ozzy Skinny Crop in Electric

This week we visited Trilogy, London’s premium denim specialist, founded in 2006, with one simple aim – to find everyone the perfect pair of jeans. The style we are reviewing today is The Ozzy Skinny Crop in Electric, from the brand TEXTILE BY ELIZABETH AND JAMES. ( more on that later).

Our model today is Jade a petite body shape, size 25 /UK8. Jade is the PR Manger for Trilogy Stores and fellow denim lover.

Jade’s unique rise measurement is 11.5 inches, her preferred rise measurement is 8 to 9 inches.

The Fit: The Ozzy from Textile by Elizabeth and James is a low waisted skinny, cropped just above the ankle. It’s a compact figure enhancing fit which works. Sizes start at 24- 30, approx UK 6-12.

Featuring Textile’s discreet signature detailing - their 5 chevron stitching on the back pockets & the slanted back belt loop.

The Rise: The front rise measures 8 inches and the back rise 12.5 inches, giving this style good bottom coverage.

The Behind: Nearly all TEXTILE’S signature detailing is on the bottom. Notice the discreet 5 chevron stitching at the bottom of the pockets, which gives the clever illusion of up-lifting the bottom cheeks! A slanted back belt loop and a lighter denim patch on the back of the waistband gives this skinny character.

The Leg Opening: The leg opening is 9 inches which makes this style a skinny jean

Leg Length: The inseam is 26 inches, which is a cropped above the ankle, making this jean perfect for the petite lady 5″3 and under.

The Fabric: 65% Cotton, 33% Lyocell, 2% Elastane. The denim has the perfect blend of stretch & hold to give a really flattering look.

Function: The Ozzy Skinny Crop is one of those styles that works for both day, night and is an all season jean. Jade teams her’s with an Textile by Elizabeth and James Lara blouse in claret, which is a perfect look for PR meetings & lunches.

Trilogy Say’s: This sexy skinny in a clean dark ink colour looks awesome day or night.

Which Body Shape? Definitely a great style for a Petite body shape due to the shorter leg length, also good for my fellow Apple body shape due to the 8 inch rise. Curvy girls should measure their “unique rise measurement” to see if this rise has enough height to give the best coverage for their curves.

For me this style ticks all the boxes making it a girls best friend. Love the dark denim wash, good mid-rise, bottom enhancing features on the pockets, cropped style. An easy to wear style at the reasonable price of £160. If I wasn’t with child I would definitely purchase!

TRIED & TESTED: RAG & BONE LEGGING IN GOTEZ

Today’s review is on a graphic print legging, The Gotez by Rag & Bone, a lifestyle brand, which is available at Donna Ida and exclusive department stores worldwide.

One again we have Rachel a slight pear shape modeling the Gotez legging, she is wearing a size 25.

The Fit: The Rag & Bone Skinny Legging is a mid-rise skinny with an all over print and slim fit. They have a super skinny leg with a 10″ leg opening. Donna Ida say’s they are true to size but packed with a good stretch. Sizes 24 – 30 (approx UK size 6- 12)

The Rise: The front rise measures 8 inches, a true mid-rise.

The Behind: The back pockets are a simple square shape, what I like about the behind of the jean is that the print doesn’t follow the jean pattern, they have picked out a different section of the print on the back pockets. This works really well as it makes the pockets stand out, making the bottom an interesting feature. The pattern on the waistband tends not to follow the pattern on the jean.

The Leg Opening: 10 inches a skinny fit down to the ankle.

Leg Length: The inseam is 30 inches, which sits on the ankle bone.

The Fabric: 96% Cotton 4% Roica

What’s That?: ROICA is spandex of a higher order with superior functionality that provides right response to various customers’ needs. The ROICA spandex is a premium stretch yarn with excellent stretch and recovery.

Function: The Gotez Legging, is a fresh statement style, white based jean with a fantastic subtle graphic print. It can be worn for both day or evening as the colours in the print can be easily teamed with denim or a floaty blouse such as the Tucker Shirred Short Sleeve Blouse – Orange Rachel is wearing.

Which Body Shape: Rachel our model is a slight pear shape and the size 25 fits her well. Again, what I like about this style is where the print is placed on the leg, it gives the thigh a slim silhouette. This skinny lends it’s self more to the Long & Leggy, Apple and slight pear, hourglass body shapes due to the mid-rise. The curvier you are you may find you need a higher rise. So let the mid-rise be your guide.

Tip: As I always say, no two pear shapes are the same and it’s your unique rise measurement that should guide you to the best rise for you.

The Round Up Of The Rag & Bone Legging in Gotez

If you haven’t already guessed, I really like this jean and I’m a bit upset this one will pass me by due my pregnant state. I think it’s the print that’s hooked me, it’s subtle but still enough to make a statement. It’s a nice change away from all the floral prints out there. I would team it with a pale denim shirt or a light denim jacket and would be good to go. The 4% mix of Roica ensures a good fit, which is important in a white based graphic jean.

The price £195 is now reduced in the Donna Ida sale to £136.50, personally I think it would be rude not to, but that maybe my denim addiction talking!
