Digg out your denim by Vicki Bagnell

Don’t throw away those denims! They can be worked into this seasons smart tailoring.

So the catwalks may be a Mad-Men frenzy awash with A-line full skirts, and sleek camel tailoring. Don’t fear your denim days are not over. Jeans have had a re-vamp of their own and the new sophisticated styles ooze glamour. The new styles have been flying of the shelves, now it’s goodbye boyfriends and hello sleek cigarette pants and leather look denim. Chanel Rizzo from grease circa 1978 and you’ll be smoking hot this autumn.

You’ll be having disco fever, wide leg flares are back, and they don’t seem to be going anywhere since the 1970′s are big next spring and summer. The biggest winner of this trend seems to be the MiH Jeans Marrakesh Flares, seen on countless celebrities,’Jessica Alba’ to name just one. Zara have been quick to follow this trend at just £39.99 it will keep the fashion pack guessing. Best shape- accentuates the hourglass figure’s and adds shape to a boyish frame. Define your waist with a belt and wear heels. it will prevent jeans dragging and instantly add length to your legs.

The Rizzo effect- slim cuts, dark indigo wash and extra sleek zippered ankles are the few things to look for when trying to perfect the ‘Rizzo’ look. The biggest name to carry this trend on the runway has been Isabel Marrant, they are the new 20th century peddle-pushers . There must be no faux-fading or distressed tearing. These jeans must look effortless and spray on. Best for- Slimming legs, indigo denim is the most flattering shade, it hides a multitude of secrets. The cropped length also enhances the thinest part of your leg, however try and aim for a higher cut waist to avoid a muffin top. Finish of team with some elegant heels, this will be enough to make even ‘Betty Draper’ lust over.

The ‘new’ Cargo- Boyfriend cargos were a big non-flattering no no,and certainly a fashion faux pas this season. With all that feminine tailoring, this needed a touch up. voila the new skinny cargo, Utility and femininity in one.J-Brands Houlihan mania spread this summer, causing the brand to re-worked the look in a dark jegging. This is now a cult item amongst the celeb pack. Best for- again slimming legs, these carefully placed pockets disguise problem areas and trim inches. Check the pockets are closer to the knee than the widest point of your thighs.

No denim look would be complete without the ‘Rebel’ without a cause look.- This is for all you daring bad girls. Jet black leather-look jeans are storming the fashion scene. Again it all started with cult label, J Brand’s latest style, the Agnes biker (and RiRi’s favourite). Don’t worry is the Agnes wasn’t for you, there are three more lust worthy versions from Victoria Beckham and Acne. Best for- not having to re-create Ross from friends talc on leather look. However these may be easier to get off but don’t go too tight. The sheen won’t be so flattering as matt denim and Nobody wants to highlight problem areas.
