TRIED & TESTED: GENETIC DENIM THE JANE HIGH-RISE SLIM BELL JEANS

TRIED & TESTED DENIM REVIEW

This week we are reviewing Genetic Denim’s The Jane High-Rise Slim Bell Jeans available at Glassworks -Studio. This is the first review we have carried out on Premium denim Brand Genetic Denim, so we are excited to find out the result.

We have Rachel a Beauty Therapist, who is a UK 8, slight pear shape modeling the jeans in a size 24.

Fit: A light-blue super soft slightly faded 5 pocket jean with yellow sitiching. They have a fitted thigh all the way to the knee and then they kick out to a slim bell leg, a true fit & flare shape.  Contouring the waist and creating the illusion of leaner, longer legs. Sizes start at 24 to 32.

Genetic-Denim The-Jane-High-Rise-Slim-Bell-Jeans

The Rise:  The front rise measures 10.5 inches, which is a perfect rise for Rachel as she has a long body and her unique rise measurement is 12 inches from crotch to belly button. Back Rise:  Measures 13 inches which works well for this style.

The Behind:  The back detail is simple but interesting as The Jane has a double yoke, this is the piece that sits under the waistband and gives the jean it’s bottom shape. (See image below). It’s a nice detail but it doesn’t carry on round to the front as one would expect. The pockets are placed high which gives the flattest bottom a nice perk.

The Leg Opening: 19 inches makes this jeans a true bell bottom flare.

Leg Length:  The inseam measures 32.5 inches.

The Fabric: 98.5% 1.5% lycra. Rachel really likes the lovely soft feel to this jean. Machine wash cold.

Function:  This style is a casual day jean, giving the wearer a great fit and flare shape.

Which Body Shape: The Jane high-rise slim bell jean is a perfect style for Hourglass, Pear, Long & Leggy and Apple shapes as the high-rise and flared leg balances out a curvacious figure.

Tip: As I always say, no two pear shapes are the same and it’s your unique rise measurement that should guide you to the best rise for you.

The Round Up Of The Jane High-Rise Slim Bell Jean

At ilovejeans.com we have the largest selection of denim to choose from when reviewing for Tried & Tested so it’s easy to get carried away. However this week we decided to choose an everyday style that flatters and enhances the wearers body shape, you can’t really ask for more!  All the elements work well which makes this style a true all rounder jean.

Tried & Tested Score: 9

Price £160 which is definitely worth paying for premium denim that offers a fantastic fit.

TRIED & TESTED: CAMILLA AND MARC- RAINBOW LEOPARD NEW ENGLISH JEANS

TRIED & TESTED DENIM REVIEW

This weeks review is on the colourful Rainbow Leopard New English Jean by Camilla and Marc. Today we have Sara a size 10-12 pear shape modeling.

Camilla and Marc launched at Australian Fashion Week in 2003 and has since become a hot favourite and international designer brand.  It’s always interesting to review a fresh new brand to ilovejeans.com.

Sara Wears Camilla and Marc Rainbow Leopard New English Jeans £275.00

The Fit: The fit is more of a skinny trouser or a ski pant, fastened using a single button and hook and eye and a concealed zip. The waist band has loops for a belt and they have a metal branded badge on the back. The flat side pockets and ankle hot pink zips give this style a slim silhouette, perfect for a curvy body shape. Sara is wearing an Australian 26 which is a uk10, sizes start at a Uk6 -12

Camilla and Marc Rainbow Leopard New English Jeans £275.00

The Rise: The front rise measures a good10.5 inches, Back Rise: 15 inches which is actually quite high.

The Behind:  One of my pet hates are jeans without a back pocket for various reasons but the main one being it extenuates the size of most bottoms. Because of the heavy print the designers are right to of kept the behind to minimal styling.

The Leg Opening: 10 inches making this a skinny jean for sure.

Leg Length: The leg length sits at 28 inches just below the ankle bone to show off the sporty pink ankle zips.

The Fabric: 97% cotton, 3% spandex gives these jeans the stretch needed to maintain the shape.  Cold machine or hand wash.

Function:  This style is definitely a statement jean and not to be worn by the fainthearted. It’s a hybrid of all the seasons hottest trends, bright colours, leopard print and sport-luxe all mixed into one jean.

Which Body Shape: Sara is a curvy pear with a unique rise measurement of 12 inches ( measurement from crotch to belly button).

As I always say, no two pear shapes are the same and it’s your unique rise measurement that should guide you to the best rise for you. This jean is a good shape for Sara as the  front rise is 10.5 inches and the high back rise gives her J Lo bottom a great shape.

This jean is a good shape for the following body shapes Long & Leggy, Hourglass and Curvy Pear. The Apple can sit this one out as the lack of back pocket detail won’t do anything for your flat bottom, although the front will work with your slim legs.

The Behind Camilla and Marc Rainbow Leopard New English Jeans

The Round Up Of The Camila and Marc Rainbow Leopard New English Jean

I do like a print it has to be said but i’m not sure if the rainbow leopard print maybe a tad too much. Needless to say if your loving this print you probably have a wardrobe of similar prints to keep it company. The fit is more of a classic skinny trouser than a jean which makes this style a true hybrid.

The price is high at £275 but if you love it go for it as you won’t see this print replicated.

TRIED & TESTED: SASS & BIDE IN THE STARS STRIPED JEAN

TRIED & TESTED DENIM REVIEW

This week on Tried & Tested we have a new model called Rachel who is a slight pear shape and testing Sass & Bide’s In The Stars Striped Jeans available at Glassworks-studio. The only jeans you will see me testing for the next six months are maternity jeans!

Rachel wears IRO Alessia Jacket £300.00

SASS & BIDE

The Fit: The Sass & Bide In The Stars Striped Jeans is a skinny 5-pocket blue and white thin striped denim jean. Light blue stitching and brass-look button closure and hard wear with covered zip fly. Rachel is wearing a size 25, which fits her size 8 nicely. Sizes start at 24- 30, that’s a UK 6 -12.

Sass-and-Bide In-The-Stars-Striped-Jeans

The Rise: The front rise measures 8.5 inches, Back Rise: 12.5 inches which gives good bottom coverage.

The Behind: The styling on the back pockets is simple and flattering, The stripe shapes the bottom as the direction of the stripe is slanted on the yoke ( the piece under the waist band) compared to the rest of the jean.

The Leg Opening: 10 inches making this a skinny jean for sure.

Leg Length: The length sits just on the ankle bone at 27 inches.

The Fabric: 98% cotton, 2% spandex gives this style a slight stretch, the wash is called ” The Winning Day”. The blue and white stripe reminds me of the kids brand Osh Kosh stripey dungarees.

Function:  The vertical stripes on these skinny crop jeans are flattering to the wearers figure. The lightweight denim is perfect for a summers day and the fresh stripe reminds me of boating and picnics.

Which Body Shape: Rachel is a slim pear shape with a unique rise measurement of 12inches ( measurement from crotch to belly button). As I always say, no two pear shapes are the same and it’s your unique rise measurement that should guide you to the best rise for you. For Rachel she prefers a higher rise as she has a long body. With a front rise of 8.5 inches this jean is good for Apple, Long & Leggy, Hourglass and small Pear body shapes.

The Behind Sass-and-Bide_In-The-Stars-Striped-Jeans

The Round Up Of The Sass & Bide In The Stars Striped Jean

Sass & Bide is a cool Australian designer brand who made their mark in 2000 with the super-skinny misfit jean a favourite of Kate Moss. So they definitely know their denim. I’m liking the “In The Stars Striped Jean” as the stripe gives a fresh wearable look for the day. The measurement of the rise against the style works for most body shapes. So this style has both function & fashion. If your looking for a denim alternative this stripe skinny jean is a good option for the day.

The price is £190 and available online at Glassworks -Studio or visit The Glassworks Pop-Up Shop, located a 2 minute walk from both Covent Garden and Leicester Square tube stations, at 9 Mercer Street, just off of Long Acre.
