This week Tried & Tested continues at Trilogy Stores reviewing Paige Denim. This weeks jean is the Paige Skyline Ankle Peg Skinny Leaf Print in Storm.

Modeled by the lovely Jade a petite body shape, size 25 /UK8. Jade is the PR Manger for Trilogy Stores and fellow denim lover. Jade’s unique rise measurement is 11.5 inches, her preferred rise measurement is 8 to 9 inches.

The Fit: The Skyline skinny from Paige is one of their best selling skinny fits, due to the flattering mid rise and slim leg. In this on-trend subtle leaf print, the look is cool & works well day or night. Sizes: 24- 32. Paige can come up slightly large so be sure to try a size down.

The print has moved on from summer floral to autumnal leaves and sits well with the leather trend coming through for AW12.

Which Body Shape? The Skyline skinny is one of those styles that looks good on most body shapes. The rise sits at 8 inches which may not be so flattering for the curvy girl who needs a higher rise. The best way to check is by these simple steps to find out your unique rise measurement. The Skyline is a good skinny for the Apple body shape and Long & Leggy ladies. The Skyline style has a slightly lower rise than the Verdugo Jean which can limit the Hourglass & Pear body shape from being able to wear this style depending on how curvy you are. Paige is a brilliant denim brand for women who want their jeans to enhance and flatter their assets! The price is £220 which is the mid range price for printed jeans this season at Paige.

TRIED & TESTED: TEXTILE BY ELIZABETH AND JAMES – The Ozzy Skinny Crop in Electric

This week we visited Trilogy, London’s premium denim specialist, founded in 2006, with one simple aim – to find everyone the perfect pair of jeans. The style we are reviewing today is The Ozzy Skinny Crop in Electric, from the brand TEXTILE BY ELIZABETH AND JAMES. ( more on that later).

Our model today is Jade a petite body shape, size 25 /UK8. Jade is the PR Manger for Trilogy Stores and fellow denim lover.

Jade’s unique rise measurement is 11.5 inches, her preferred rise measurement is 8 to 9 inches.

The Fit: The Ozzy from Textile by Elizabeth and James is a low waisted skinny, cropped just above the ankle. It’s a compact figure enhancing fit which works. Sizes start at 24- 30, approx UK 6-12.

Featuring Textile’s discreet signature detailing - their 5 chevron stitching on the back pockets & the slanted back belt loop.

The Rise: The front rise measures 8 inches and the back rise 12.5 inches, giving this style good bottom coverage.

The Behind: Nearly all TEXTILE’S signature detailing is on the bottom. Notice the discreet 5 chevron stitching at the bottom of the pockets, which gives the clever illusion of up-lifting the bottom cheeks! A slanted back belt loop and a lighter denim patch on the back of the waistband gives this skinny character.

The Leg Opening: The leg opening is 9 inches which makes this style a skinny jean

Leg Length: The inseam is 26 inches, which is a cropped above the ankle, making this jean perfect for the petite lady 5″3 and under.

The Fabric: 65% Cotton, 33% Lyocell, 2% Elastane. The denim has the perfect blend of stretch & hold to give a really flattering look.

Function: The Ozzy Skinny Crop is one of those styles that works for both day, night and is an all season jean. Jade teams her’s with an Textile by Elizabeth and James Lara blouse in claret, which is a perfect look for PR meetings & lunches.

Trilogy Say’s: This sexy skinny in a clean dark ink colour looks awesome day or night.

Which Body Shape? Definitely a great style for a Petite body shape due to the shorter leg length, also good for my fellow Apple body shape due to the 8 inch rise. Curvy girls should measure their “unique rise measurement” to see if this rise has enough height to give the best coverage for their curves.

For me this style ticks all the boxes making it a girls best friend. Love the dark denim wash, good mid-rise, bottom enhancing features on the pockets, cropped style. An easy to wear style at the reasonable price of £160. If I wasn’t with child I would definitely purchase!

TRIED & TESTED: GENETIC DENIM THE JANE HIGH-RISE SLIM BELL JEANS

This week we are reviewing Genetic Denim’s The Jane High-Rise Slim Bell Jeans available at Glassworks -Studio. This is the first review we have carried out on Premium denim Brand Genetic Denim, so we are excited to find out the result.

We have Rachel a Beauty Therapist, who is a UK 8, slight pear shape modeling the jeans in a size 24.

Fit: A light-blue super soft slightly faded 5 pocket jean with yellow sitiching. They have a fitted thigh all the way to the knee and then they kick out to a slim bell leg, a true fit & flare shape. Contouring the waist and creating the illusion of leaner, longer legs. Sizes start at 24 to 32.

The Rise: The front rise measures 10.5 inches, which is a perfect rise for Rachel as she has a long body and her unique rise measurement is 12 inches from crotch to belly button. Back Rise: Measures 13 inches which works well for this style.

The Behind: The back detail is simple but interesting as The Jane has a double yoke, this is the piece that sits under the waistband and gives the jean it’s bottom shape. (See image below). It’s a nice detail but it doesn’t carry on round to the front as one would expect. The pockets are placed high which gives the flattest bottom a nice perk.

The Leg Opening: 19 inches makes this jeans a true bell bottom flare.

Leg Length: The inseam measures 32.5 inches.

The Fabric: 98.5% 1.5% lycra. Rachel really likes the lovely soft feel to this jean. Machine wash cold.

Function: This style is a casual day jean, giving the wearer a great fit and flare shape.

Which Body Shape: The Jane high-rise slim bell jean is a perfect style for Hourglass, Pear, Long & Leggy and Apple shapes as the high-rise and flared leg balances out a curvacious figure.

Tip: As I always say, no two pear shapes are the same and it’s your unique rise measurement that should guide you to the best rise for you.

TRIED & TESTED: SASS & BIDE IN THE STARS STRIPED JEAN

This week on Tried & Tested we have a new model called Rachel who is a slight pear shape and testing Sass & Bide’s In The Stars Striped Jeans available at Glassworks-studio. The only jeans you will see me testing for the next six months are maternity jeans!

The Fit: The Sass & Bide In The Stars Striped Jeans is a skinny 5-pocket blue and white thin striped denim jean. Light blue stitching and brass-look button closure and hard wear with covered zip fly. Rachel is wearing a size 25, which fits her size 8 nicely. Sizes start at 24- 30, that’s a UK 6 -12.

The Rise: The front rise measures 8.5 inches, Back Rise: 12.5 inches which gives good bottom coverage.

The Behind: The styling on the back pockets is simple and flattering, The stripe shapes the bottom as the direction of the stripe is slanted on the yoke ( the piece under the waist band) compared to the rest of the jean.

The Leg Opening: 10 inches making this a skinny jean for sure.

Leg Length: The length sits just on the ankle bone at 27 inches.

The Fabric: 98% cotton, 2% spandex gives this style a slight stretch, the wash is called ” The Winning Day”. The blue and white stripe reminds me of the kids brand Osh Kosh stripey dungarees.

Function: The vertical stripes on these skinny crop jeans are flattering to the wearers figure. The lightweight denim is perfect for a summers day and the fresh stripe reminds me of boating and picnics.

Which Body Shape: Rachel is a slim pear shape with a unique rise measurement of 12inches ( measurement from crotch to belly button). As I always say, no two pear shapes are the same and it’s your unique rise measurement that should guide you to the best rise for you. For Rachel she prefers a higher rise as she has a long body. With a front rise of 8.5 inches this jean is good for Apple, Long & Leggy, Hourglass and small Pear body shapes.

The Round Up Of The Sass & Bide In The Stars Striped Jean

Sass & Bide is a cool Australian designer brand who made their mark in 2000 with the super-skinny misfit jean a favourite of Kate Moss. So they definitely know their denim. I’m liking the “In The Stars Striped Jean” as the stripe gives a fresh wearable look for the day. The measurement of the rise against the style works for most body shapes. So this style has both function & fashion. If your looking for a denim alternative this stripe skinny jean is a good option for the day.
