In 2008 the hotly anticipated J brand men’s collection launched, which has since grown into a full range of premium jeans and chinos with contemporary design and careful finishing.
Established in Istanbul in 1991, Mavi designed a full line of denim. The philosophy of Mavi is to construct a brand around the clients while incorporating details of the Mediterranean lifestyle. Intimate and inspiring, Mavi- which means blue in Turkish- is known for its high quality of perfectly adjusted jeans. The development of Mavi was dependent on one key strategy: The Perfect Fit. Whether that be in using organic cotton for the denim or in incorporating inspirational travels around the globe, the mission of Mavi is to adapt itself to not only the body of the clients, but also their lifestyle.
The story of how True Religion came to be is a uniquely American tale. As a teenager growing up in New York, industry veteran Jeffrey Lubell would bleach bell-bottoms and embellish his favorite pairs of jeans with leather and denim patches when they became ripped and worn. He also drew album covers on jackets and added hand-embroidered finishes. "This is where my denim journey began," he says. True Religion was founded in 2002 and the name came from "There's only one real religion and that's people," says Lubell. "And all the people in the world wear jeans, hence True Religion was born.
